JoAnn Weinberger
President & Executive Director

JoAnn Weinberger is president/executive director of the Center for Literacy (CFL), the nation’s largest community-based non-profit adult literacy organization.  She serves as Chief Executive Officer of CFL, a member of the Board of Trustees and its Executive Committee.  As such, she is responsible for developing the resources of the agency; carrying out all directions and resolutions of the Board of Trustees; networking CFL’s activities with appropriate local, state, and national programs and activities; and insuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. As legislative chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Adult Continuing Education, JoAnn provides leadership to the adult education community on legislation, policy development, and advocacy.  JoAnn is also a member of the Philadelphia Council on College and Career Success (the former Youth Council).  Prior to joining the Center for Literacy in 1986, JoAnn was Deputy Secretary for Policy Management in the PA Department of Education. JoAnn received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Ohio State University and her M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
