A Look at the Center for Literacy’s ESL Tutor Training

Description
This interactive session introduces participants to the Center for Literacy’s recently developed ESL Tutor Training for volunteer tutors.  The workshop features highlights from the training, including activities focused on: adults as learners, cultural differences, and basic tutoring strategies for developing listening and speaking skills.  Several of the activities attempt to put the participants in the learner’s shoes in order to heighten their awareness of the multitude of issues at hand when tutoring ESL.  The session, guided by a powerpoint, also features videos of actual students and tutoring pairs.
