Purpose





On Friday, November 20, 2009, an estimated 360-500 people will convene at a highly public place to stand frozen in time. At the appointed time, everyone will stop exactly where they are, appear to be reading, and remain motionless for two meaningful minutes. The world will watch!
The Literacy crisis is pervasive, yet hidden from obvious view. It is unlike so many other social ills that have visibly compelling cases for support. The depth and breath of the literacy crisis is difficult to articulate, but impacts each of us. Gathering hundreds of people in a highly visible place, staging a publicity stunt with a mission-based purpose, is an opportunity we ought to freeze to seize.
