Foundations

The Center for Literacy is privileged to receive funding and strategic support from local, regional and national foundations. Our work involves a complex web of challenges, from identifying specific literacy needs among a diverse population to developing programs and curricula that effectively address these needs. Over the years we have secured support from a number of noteworthy foundations whose confidence in our expertise is solid testimony to the successes we have enjoyed in the field. Among the list of nearly 100 foundations that have supported the Center are:

ACE INA Foundation

Campbell Soup Foundation

Connelly Foundation

Dollar General Literacy Foundation

Fourjay Foundation

The Pew Charitable Trusts

The Center for Literacy recognizes that the role of foundations extends far beyond that of detached funder. Foundations often serve as strategic partners - challenging staff, contributing thought leadership, inviting wider support, reinforcing accountability, expanding collaborative networks, enhancing public awareness, and elevating the literacy mission among diverse stakeholders.

Foundations are critical to the long term health of CFL. They have been instrumental in bringing life to innovative ideas, and stability to important long running programs. CFL has engaged a number of multi-year programs with foundations, with a solid record of accomplishment.

The Center for Literacy is well positioned to respond to the strategic priorities of foundations that place the educational needs of individuals at center stage. We offer foundations an experienced partner in addressing mutual interests, as well as a great depth of experience in navigating the rigors of RFPs. Our budgets are comprehensive, our narratives succinct, and our evaluation standards well grounded.

CFL invites inquiries regarding collaborative initiatives, and issues a call for support of those programs we are researching, developing, and/or have implemented.
