The Center for Literacy (CFL) and the Pennsylvania Association for Adult Continuing Education (PAACE) are urging Pennsylvanians to sign a petition that calls upon Governor Rendell and legislators to support funding for adult literacy education.
6/30/2010 - CFL Rallies Against Budget Cuts
The Center for Literacy will join over 70 non-profits and social service groups to rally against state budget cuts to essential services on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Philadelphia’s City Hall-Dilworth Plaza, Northwest corner.
6/3/2010 - Sonia Sanchez, Commencement Keynote Speaker
Renowned writer, poet, playwright, activist and author Sonia Sanchez has graciously agreed to speak at this year’s CFL commencement ceremony on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Community College of Philadelphia.
5/6/2010 - CFL President/Executive Dir. Receives Award
CFL President and Executive Director JoAnn Weinberger received the Community College of Philadelphia Distinguished Leadership Award.  The awards are given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to higher education in West Philadelphia.
4/9/2010 - Center for Literacy students explore college for a day
The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) hosted a pilot program called “College Day” on Wednesday, April 7.  Over 100 students from various civic organizations attended the program.  Nineteen CFL students from the English as a second language (ESL), General Educational Development (GED), and the Adult Diploma Program (ADP) attended.
