Adult Basic Education

The Center for Literacy offers Adult Basic Education classes at community based sites throughout the city of Philadelphia and Delaware County. These classes are designed to improve learners’ reading, writing, language, and/or math skills. Lessons may be delivered individually, in small groups, or as a whole class and address goal specific objectives as set by the respective learner. Classes are free and are held twice a week for 2.5 hours per session either in the morning, afternoon or early evening. To enroll in a CFL ABE class, learners should call CFL headquarters at 215-474-1235 to register for an orientation; the orientation consists of a brief introduction on various educational services and options available to prospective learners as well as an assessment of learners’ reading, writing, and math skills.
