GED

The Center for Literacy offers General Educational Development (GED) classes at community based sites throughout the city of Philadelphia. These classes prepare GED candidates to take and pass each of the five subject areas of the GED test: Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Classes are free and are held twice a week for 2.5 hours per session either in the morning, afternoon or early evening. To enroll in a CFL GED class, learners should call CFL headquarters at 215-474-1235 to register for an orientation; the orientation consists of a brief introduction on various educational services and options available to prospective learners as well as an assessment of learners’ reading, writing, and math skills. Learners who successfully pass the GED will be eligible to participate in our annual commencement ceremony in June.
