Integrated Literacy Model

The Integrated Literacy Model(ILM) is a comprehensive approach to build collaborative and productive relationships with school administrators, teachers, and students to help createa culture of literacy within the school. Currently, CFL has collaborated with West Philadelphia High School to provide literacy coaching services to school administrators and teachers, along with literacy instruction for in-school 9th grade students who struggle within Strategic and Intensive English Courses and students in the evening program who are reading significantly below grade level and struggling with their coursework.  CFL Literacy Specialists engage students in meaningful and relevant text to increase their motivation to read.  Meaningful and relevant writing and discussion activities are an important part of the learning experience to increase students’ voice and ownership of their learning.
