Adult Diploma Program
CFL's Adult Diploma Program (ADP) provides a district-issued high school diploma to adult learners who complete specific curriculum requirements on their own time and at their own pace. CFL launched the ADP in 1999 as an opportunity for adults to apply their life skills to the process of obtaining their high school diplomas. The ADP empowers students to become agents of their own learning who utilize the cultural and educational resources abundant in the city of Philadelphia and on the internet.
CFL structured the Adult Diploma Program to foster sustainable learning skills through a course of task-oriented independent study. The ADP curriculum focuses on utilizing community resources to prepare students for higher education and improved job opportunities. The men and women who participate in the ADP develop lifelong learning skills. The program improves learners' independent study, research, technological and communication skills. Learners' families also benefit because the participation of one adult family member re-establishes education as a priority in the home. Diploma candidates are 21 years of age or older and are legal residents of Pennsylvania. CFL also provides refresher courses to anyone who wishes to enter the Adult Diploma Program but who first needs improvement in reading, writing, and/or math.
