JoAnn Weinberger - President & Executive Director
JoAnn Weinberger is president/executive director of the Center for Literacy (CFL). She serves as Chief Executive Officer of CFL, a member of the Board of Trustees and its Executive Committee. As such, she is responsible for developing the resources of the agency; carrying out all directions and resolutions of the Board of Trustees; networking CFL's activities with appropriate local, state, and national programs and activities; and insuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. As vice-chair of the Pennsylvania Interagency Coordinating Council on ABLE and legislative chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Adult Continuing Education, JoAnn provides leadership to the adult education community on legislation, policy development, and advocacy. JoAnn is also chair of the Youth Council's Out of School Youth Committee. JoAnn received her BS in Elementary Education from Ohio State University and her MA in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Alexandra Korupp - Director, Human Resources
Alexandra Korupp is the Director of Human Resources of the Center for Literacy. As the head of the Human Resources Department, she is responsible for the successful management of CFL's human resources - our staff of quality educators, administrators, and support staff. She facilitates the organizational culture and recruitment process while making significant contributions to the Center for Literacy through strategic planning, employee skill development, benefit administration, and regulatory compliance. Alexandra received her Bachelors of Science in Finance and Marketing from Drexel University, has a Professional Human Resource Management Certification from Villanova University, and is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management. In 2000, Alexandra began her own residential real estate business and has recently expanded into the international real estate markets.
Charles Rand - Director, External Affairs
Charles Rand is Director of External Affairs at CFL, responsible for planning, development, communications, marketing and public relations. He brings twenty years of entrepreneurial leadership, organizational design, and program development experience to the Center. Charles has founded four organizations, has served in leadership and board roles at for-profit and nonprofit organizations, and pioneered a micro-financing program in Indonesia. He has consulted for a dozen organizations in the area of development and has also engaged individual clients in values-based legacy planning. Charles has a BA in Philosophy from Mount Allison University (Canada), an MBA in Finance from Bentley College (Massachusetts), and is pursuing a PhD in community economic development at Southern New Hampshire University. Charles received his CFRE in 1997 and is a research assistant at Harvard University as well as the Applied Research Center at SNHU.
Roz Porter - Director, Finance & Operations
Roz Porter has been a vital member of CFL's Finance & Operations Department since 1994. Her leadership qualities are augmented by her ability to restructure systems and processes and increase their levels of efficiency and effectiveness. The scope of Roz's responsibilities as Director of Finance & Operations goes far beyond day-to-day accounting and procedures and includes the management of the Information Technology Department, the Information Services Department, facilities, and the Business Office.
Allener “Sissy” Rogers - Director, Adult Education
Dr. Rogers brings a depth of academic, administrative, research, and field experience to CFL. She is the former Director of the B2EST Program at Arcadia University, where she continues to be an adjunct professor teaching a range of courses in education research and design and organizational change. She is also the former Director of the Step Up and Bridge Programs at the Community College of Philadelphia. Sissy has served(s) on a host of Boards, including: Philadelphia County Assistance Office, Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth, Parent Infant Center, the Advisory Board for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Concerns, the Rainbow Endowment, among others. She is well published and recognized locally for her focus on educational research . Sissy received her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Widener University, her Master of Education in Psychology Services from the University of Pennsylvania, and her Bachelor of Science in Communications from Drexel University.
Stephanie Korber - Director, Youth Education
Stephanie Korber is the Director of Youth Education at CFL. In this role, Stephanie works in a leadership capacity to research and develop educational programming to address the needs of both in-school (ISY) and out-of-school (OSY) youth in the Philadelphia area. Her work has resulted in the development, implementation and expansion of educational programs that serve to improve the reading skills of ISY and OSY so that they may be successful in obtaining a secondary school credential. She collaborates with youth-serving organizations throughout Philadelphia and represents CFL at multiple committee tables working to address the drop-out crisis. In addition, she provides professional development opportunities for CFL and non-CFL educators and program administrators at local and national conferences. Stephanie completed her undergraduate work at Syracuse University and holds a BA in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education. She is an experienced teacher, certified in both Elementary and Special Education. She continues to work towards her graduate degree in Reading Education.
